From Curious Outlier: There are several reasons why the majority of gut bacteria are unharmed by chlorine dioxide a reactive oxygen species. First, much of the gut microbiome itself secrets small quantities of reactive oxygen species (also called ROS) such as hydrogen peroxide and superoxide. For this reason, gut bacteria can resist other reactive oxygen species in small quantities. Lactobacilli for example produce ROS, and this gives them an advantage over pathogens because they can withstand higher exposures to ROS like hydrogen peroxide and superoxide that are produced by the body as part of the immune system to destroy pathogens. Let me use a simple illustration.
Think of ROS secreting bacteria like electric eels. The electricity from one electric eel does not disturb another.
So it is with gut bacteria and reactive oxygen species. Gut bacteria that secrete ROS are not affected by ROS from other sources. That includes chlorine dioxide unless delivered at overwhelming industrial strength.
At the current time, the gut bacteria dose threshold is not known. There must be some lethal dose point at which lactobacilli would not be able to resist the oxidative effects, but I have not found any literature that has established this threshold. I have seen plenty positive testimonials of people with disorders like irritable bowel syndrome and Crohn's disease. - MMS (Miracle Mineral Solution) Way - You buy this as two components Part A (Sodium Chlorite) and Part B (Acid - either Hydrochloric,Citric or Phosphoric). Based on number of drops, you mix A and B. A and B are prepared in such a way that you mix the same amount (or number of drops) so it is not confusing (e.g. 3 drops A + 3 drops B). This is called activation. Sodium Chlorite is activated by an acid and starts generating Chlorine dioxide gas. Once activated, this is added to a specific volume of water. For ease of preparation, drops are used. Then follow the protocols developed by Jim Humble. MMS Protocols are measured in number of drops. - CDS (all caps) Way - Similarly, you will need to buy the 2 components used in MMS. However, instead of mixing A + B, then add water, a special process is done to allow the gas to escape, and get absorbed in water. This process was developed by Charlotte Lackney. CDS/Kalcker protocols are measure in ml and ppm (unlike the MMS protocols which are in drops). For simplicity, CDS (all caps) is referred to as 3,000ppm solution prepared in this manner. This is the stock solution from which the Protocols will be based on. A much faster method, the 'Quick CDS' method can also be done. Here is the instructional video on that Quick CDS Using Phos. - 'Purogene' Way - This is widely used here in the Philippines (since 1989) for water treatment. A purified Sodium Chlorite (Purogene Brand from USA) is used. Purogene is activated by a food grade phosphoric acid (used in Coca Cola drinks). Once activated, the resulting solution is 20,000ppm Chlorine dioxide solution (or ClO2 solution). This is then diluted with water down to 3,000ppm. Then you can follow the Kalcker protocols. For differentiation, chlorine dioxide solution prepared this way shall be called as Purogene ClO2 solution.
